Statement on the Swine Influenza Situation
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on 30 April 2009 that the UN agency will now refer to the new influenza virus as influenza A (H1N1). And there has been no report of the Influenza A (H1N1) in Thailand.
The Ministry of Public Health has collaborated with Airports of Thailand to closely monitor passengers with flu-like symptoms and strictly monitor those coming from countries affected by the disease.

Statement on the Recent Political Situation in Thailand

Increasing industry support for POWER-GEN Asia 2009

Thailand’s 2007 Power Development Plan forecasts demand to increase from 26,235 MW in 2010 to 46,481 MW by 2020, with approximately 50 per cent to be delivered by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and 50 per cent from IPPs.
The Government exploring new opportunities from coal and gas to renewables and nuclear and is one of the first countries in Asia to have a policy to encourage generation of power from renewable energy. In order to sustain economic growth, energy security to support the developing markets must be strengthened.

The Ministry of Energy for Thailand has confirmed its support towards POWER-GEN Asia, along with the Independent Power Producers Forum (IPPF).
South East Asia is one of the fastest developing regions in the world and its appetite for energy is growing at an astonishing rate. Recent estimates are that over US$50 billion investment is required in the region, in order to meet the growing demand for power.

Minister delivers keynote speech at POWER-GEN Asia
POWER-GEN Asia demonstrated why it is the region’s premier exhibition and conference for the power generation, transmission and distribution industries, with an excellent 3 day event, attracting record attendance.
Nearly 6,000 industry professionals attended POWER-GEN Asia, at the KLCC Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a 12% increase on the 2007 event held in Thailand.
The exhibition featured over 150 exhibitors in the largest power industry exhibition in the ASEAN region, including many of the world’s leading industry players as well as regional and local manufacturers and suppliers of products and services.
Attendance to the event was drawn from over 55 countries around the world, demonstrating the appeal and importance of POWER-GEN Asia to the industry.
The POWER-GEN Asia conference was also a resounding success with large numbers of delegates and an exceptionally high level of domestic and international speakers, including a Ministerial Keynote Speech by Dato’ Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, Minister for Energy, Water & Communications for Malaysia.
The regions premier conference delivered opening keynote speeches from:
