POWER-GEN Asia, co-located with Renewable Energy World Asia, shattered its past attendance record with nearly 7,000 power professionals attending by the conclusion of the event.  Held at IMPACT Exhibition and Conference Centre October 7-9, POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy Asia is expected to end the week with more than 6,500 total attendees gathered to discuss the latest developments, issues and challenges related to the region’s power generation, transmission and distribution and renewable energy sectors.

POWER-GEN Asia, the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power generation and transmission and distribution industries, and co-located Renewable Energy World Asia saw an exciting and the busiest ever opening day, Wednesday 7th October, with top level speakers and a busy exhibition floor.

The opening of the event saw keynote speeches delivered by Lt. Dr. Prapas Limpabandhu, Vice Minister of Energy, Sutat Patmasiriwat, Deputy Governor – Generation of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Dong-Soo Suh, Executive Vice President Power Plant Business Group from Korean engineering giant Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd., before the trio officially opened the exhibition floor in a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony.

Statement on the Swine Influenza Situation

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on 30 April 2009 that the UN agency will now refer to the new influenza virus as influenza A (H1N1). 

The Ministry of Public Health has collaborated with Airports of Thailand to closely monitor passengers with flu-like symptoms and strictly monitor those coming from countries affected by the disease.
