With over 30 years of thermal engineering experience, Axel focuses on boiler designs, combustion and operation optimization of large-scale power plants. Axel has extensive experience in the development and testing of burner systems and furnace, as well as operational issues at RWE and external plants. He successfully consulted a number of top clients with particular emphasis on coal combustion, providing recommendations regards Emission reduction measures, slagging & fouling issues, efficiency improvements, operation & maintenance improvement, plant modifications and tests.
Axel serves numerous roles for organizations such as VGB PowerTech e.V., the European technical association for power and heat generation. His involvement includes participating in special Task Forces, such as “large power plant utilities foundation” or “fuel handling and combustion”. Axel was also named as an honor judge to the Social Court in Cologne, Germany.
Axel graduated with a Master and Bachelor of Science (Dipl.-Ing.) in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.
